UMass Dartmouth
Athletics Improvement Projects
THE DETAILS
JJA Sports, LLC provided sports consulting, design, and construction administration services for this multi-venue renovation project at the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth. This project included three separate projects. Each of these represented significant improvements to the Universities’ outdoor athletic venues.
The first was complete renovation of the varsity men’s baseball, and women’s softball, natural turf grass ball fields. This project included a complete rebuild of the infield areas and an aggressive structural maintenance program to rehabilitate the outfield areas. Baseball had actually been closed down due to the condition at its infield in 2015 which warranted the renovation to facilitate use of the venue.
The second project was the replacement and upgrade of the infill synthetic turf game field at Cressy Stadium (13 years old). This project included an infill synthetic turf with an alternative infill material over a resilient drainage pad. This project also represented a branding opportunity for the program through the use of athletic program colors and graphics on both the field and new wall padding..
The final project was the complete upgrade of the home side Cressy Stadium grandstand seating area. The new facility provided 1,050 spectator seats, improved site circulation, viewing and accessibility improvements. The project also provided a main press box with separate team coaches boxes to round out the Cressy improvements.
