St. John’s Preparatory School
Cronin Memorial Stadium Track and Synthetic Turf
THE DETAILS
JJA Sports provided sports consulting, permitting, design and construction administration services for the St. John’s Prep Cronin Memorial Stadium Improvements project. The project replaced their six-lane track and natural turf game field with an updated synthetic track and turf complex. The project was developed in conjunction with St. John’s Wellness Center which encroached on the original stadium. The home side seating consists of a 6-row elevated concrete deck stadium with a back row circulation plaza.
The project is currently under construction with a scheduled completion date of late September 2017. The redesign provides a fully compliant pitch in the oval. The encroachment of the Wellness Center on the original coupled with the need to increase the width of the track resulted in complex setback issues which required a creative approach to seating on both the home and visitor’s stadium components. The end solution was a home side elevated stadium serving as a plinth for the new building.
