Concord Carlisle Regional High School
Multi-Purpose Synthetic Turf Fields
THE DETAILS
JJA Sports, LLC provided athletic facility design for this public-private project at the Regional High School in Concord, Massachusetts. Prompted by the Friends of Concord-Carlisle Fields Committee’s effort to build a facility that would serve public and private recreation as well as the high school athletic and physical education programs, this project included funding by private donations, local funds and Community Preservation funds to build two multi-purpose synthetic turf fields and one natural turf field.
The project site, located at the edge of the historic Walden Woods, coupled with State of Massachusetts Community Preservation Fund use limitations created a complex approval process challenge for project proponents. A Town Meeting followed by a Special Town Meeting, an attempted suit to stop the project, an appeal to the Executive Office of Environmental Affairs and a short lived sit in by a concerned neighbor all added to a colorful project.
